Since losing his C4 Division Championship Xander Croft had been living his life with a stick up his ass ever since. It was affecting how he ate, slept, and trained. He also hadn't talked to his teammates the same way since that loss too. His swagger was hurt, his composure was poisoned, all because he lost his C4 Division title. He hasn’t been the same since

Keep in mind he lost that title in a multi-person bout where he wasn’t pinned. With other opponents involved. He just couldn’t climb up in time. Summer Rayne got it first and it pissed him off every time he thought about it. It also hasn’t helped matters that only until recently Xander had been relegated to the live event circuit. Smaller crowds with smaller pay with nary a title match to be seen. Not a good look for the man who started the Centre Of Attention in the first place.

And as for Summer Rayne. It didn’t matter if she was a woman though it certainly didn’t help his bravado. Or that she placed such a value on her own ego and sex appeal. But the core fact is that he didn’t believe she deserved the title because she didn’t pin him in the ring. That’s what made Xander enraged the most. He was never officially BEATEN for the title. Not in his eyes and mind..

So when it was announced that he’d be facing Summer Rayne in a one on one match at AWS Monday Night Ward and in a barbed wire match no less the only thing that was on his mind was REVENGE. Especially since their match was in a barbed wire ladder match. Forget about proving who was the better wrestler. It was all about showing who had the wildest side, the meanest streak, on the way to championship glory. And all you had to do was climb a ladder. Granted the match was a no disqualification style bout with weapons galore that you could use to add to it all.

And while Xander would prefer for it to be a one on one regular match, which fit his background and experience the most. He not only could take the challenge but he could embrace it. He had the reputation of being the technical wrestling genius of the Centre Of Attention but this match wasn’t about submissions and holds. It was about climbing up that ladder and being unafraid to bleed.

Even though this wasn’t his typical style Xander needed to let his hardcore side come out if he wanted to win back his C4 Championship and Summer Rayne was going to find that out before she even got to the ring.

The promo scene started with Xander sitting in the Centre Of Attention locker room. Street clothes on and looking intently at the camera.

Xander Croft: Summer Rayne. Before we go any further just know that I’ve had my attention on you for a long, long time. Ever since you unjustly took my C4 Division Championshipship from me. You didn’t beat me. You didn’t make me submit, you arrogant bitch…you climbed up faster, you hung there longer, and you got the title before I did. Summer you are a JOKE of a C4 Division Champion and at AWS Ward I will END your disgraceful championship reign at AWS Ward!

Xander channeled anger he had from his title loss into his opening statement. He could close it there if he wanted too but he didn’t Xander was only getting started.

Xander Croft: Shame on me for thinking I could go into that Ultimate X match thinking I could win by just being the best version of myself. The best submission wrestler in the Asylum Wrestling Society, the best pure wrestler of the Centre Of Attention, the man who dominated wrestling in Europe set to do the same to the United States. No it seems I can’t win that way because the situation won’t let me Summer. So now I have to not merely fight dirty…I have to be VIOLENT. I have to grab chairs, tables, and of course ladders. Since our match is a ladder match after all. Which doesn’t bode well for you Summer. Because I don’t just want to beat you. I want to HURT YOU.

Xander made this clear with his promo with facial reactions and base in his tone to go with it while talking about himself and his strengths as well as his plans. And also what led to his downfall. Nothing could convince Xander that losing the C4 Division Championship wasn’t anything more than a fluke and the only way to rectify it was diving into the hardcore style. Even if his COA teammate Olympia might raise her eyebrow at him calling himself the best technical wrestler in the team. But Xander didn’t mean any disrespect. He was rightfully hyping himself up.

Xander Croft: Tonight’s match isn’t about me bending your body in ways that even you Summer Rayne, the tramp that you are, have never been bent before. Tonight isn’t about me breaking your bones and joints, pulling ligaments and tendons though I am capable of doing that as well. No, there is going to be barbed wire and weapons galore that I can use for that. No It’s about climbing that ladder and taking down MY C4 Championship and bringing it back home with me. For myself and for the Centre Of Attention. When I beat you I put respect back on the C4 Division title by climbing that ladder and putting your ass into irrelevancy. We’re done!
