Two Brands, Two Belts (Part II)

Featured Replies

Location: AWS Media Center, Las Vegas, Nevada
Backdrop: Black curtain with repeating AWS logos. A long table draped in black felt sits center stage. Two championship belts are hidden beneath separate felt cloths bearing the AWS emblem. Camera flashes pop as media and talent representatives crowd the room.

The camera fades in on the press conference stage. A low murmur rolls through the room as journalists, photographers, and invited guests settle in. The AWS logo glows on a massive LED wall behind the podium. At center stage stands AWS Executive Director Donovan Cross, composed, hands resting lightly on the edge of the table. Two covered championship belts sit in front of him, unmistakable in shape even beneath the cloth.

Cross waits for the room to quiet. He reaches for the microphone, brings it to his mouth, and looks directly into the camera.

Donovan Cross:
“Today marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of Asylum Wrestling Society.”

A wave of camera shutters clicks. Cross pauses, letting the weight of the moment settle.

Donovan Cross:
“For years, the AWS Unified World Tag Team Championships have represented the very best of tag team wrestling across this company. Those titles have been defended on multiple brands, across multiple continents, and in some of the most brutal environments AWS has ever sanctioned. But as AWS continues to expand, as our roster deepens and our brands continue to define their own identities, it has become clear that the tag team division deserves the same focused spotlight and structure as our singles championships.”

He gestures subtly to the two covered belts.

Donovan Cross:
“Effective immediately, the AWS Unified World Tag Team Championships will be formally separated into two brand-specific championships.”

The room stirs. Reporters lean forward. Cross places one hand on the felt cloth covering the first set of titles.

Donovan Cross:
“These championships will anchor and define tag team wrestling on their respective brands, ensuring that both divisions grow with their own legacies, their own contenders, and their own champions.”

Cross grips the edge of the first cloth.

Donovan Cross:
“First…”

He pulls the felt away in one smooth motion, revealing the first set of championships. Camera flashes explode across the room.

Donovan Cross:
“These titles will be known as the AWS World Tag Team Championships. They will be the official tag team championships of AWS Saturday Night Assault.”

The crowd reacts—applause, shouts, the audible buzz of excitement. Photographers crowd closer to the table, snapping images of the newly revealed belts. Cross steps slightly aside, allowing the cameras a clear look before returning to the microphone.

Donovan Cross:
“Saturday Night Assault has become synonymous with chaos, physicality, and relentless competition. These championships will represent the very best tag teams willing to endure that environment, week in and week out.”

He pauses again, letting the reaction die down. Then he places his hand on the second covered set of titles.

Donovan Cross:
“And now… the second half of this new era.”

The room grows quiet. Cross lifts the second cloth, unveiling the second set of championships.

Donovan Cross:
“These championships will be known as the AWS World Duos Championships. They will be defended exclusively on our flagship program, AWS Tuesday Night Ward.”

Another surge of reaction ripples through the media center. The distinction lands immediately—two brands, two identities, two parallel tag team divisions, each with its own crown.

Cross stands centered between both sets of revealed titles.

Donovan Cross:
“Let me be clear about what this means. This is not a downgrade of the legacy created by the Unified World Tag Team Championships. This is an expansion of that legacy. Two brands. Two championships. Two distinct paths to immortality.”

He looks directly into the camera.

Donovan Cross:
“From this point forward, tag teams will no longer be forced to compete across brands for a single set of titles. Each division will be allowed to flourish on its own terms. New rivalries will form. New champions will rise. And the standard of tag team wrestling in AWS will reach levels this company has never seen before.”

Cross steps back slightly, spreading his hands to both sets of belts.

Donovan Cross:
“The AWS World Tag Team Championships on Saturday Night Assault. The AWS World Duos Championships on Tuesday Night Ward. Two championships. One company. One standard: excellence.”

He lowers the microphone.

Camera flashes continue to fire as reporters begin shouting questions. The shot lingers on the two newly unveiled championship sets side by side, the AWS logo gleaming beneath the studio lights as the press conference fades to black.
