Jamal Payne
August 28, 2026 Jamal Payne 1,284 words Monday Night Ward: #367 AWS Ward Cell

From Virginia to Australia

Jamal Payne had been put through the absolute wringer lately in AWS. Deathmatches, matches where weapons were vital for him to even have a chance at winning. He didn’t have a soft heart or anything but he missed having straightforward matches where he could just beat the hell out of people on the way to victory. Not a simple singles match because that would be boring but not a deathmatch either. And luckily at AWS Ward in Sydney, Australia a new match caught his eye. Something…that pleased an inner beast.

Damien Kostich vs. Jamal Payne vs. Mixie: Cage Of Death Match. Winner becomes the AWS Parental Advisory Champion, the runner‑up earns the spot as #1 Contender to the AWS 5150 Championship, and third place walks away with nothing. That’s exactly what the title read and he had that on his mind through training. An enclosed space, two opponents, one he knew very well, the other was brand new. Yeah it was going to be a brutal and violent affair worthy of the Asylum Wrestling Society with championship stakes on the line. But this match made him feel at ease. In fact, it was damn near a vacation compared to his more recent bouts…

Jamal had fought Damien Kostich before but never one on one. It was always in a multi-person setting just like this, with championship stakes. So because of this Jamal knew what to expect with him. Damien was a maniac in the ring who was just mentally stable enough to be a damn good wrestler who feared nothing. He was going to have to hit him hard as fuck just to put down this madman down. As tough as Damien was though and he was indeed undeniably tough Jamal believed he had what it took to plant his ass like a flower. He was beatable. A freaky pain in his black ass but beatable.

Then there was Mixie who was a complete wildcard. So much so that even Jamal Payne who in his 30 years in wrestling and experience with a variety of wrestlers, matches, and situations couldn’t get a read on Mixie and her angle. A childlike wrestler who sees wrestling as not just pure fun but like a child at recess. Wrestling was fun for her and Jamal respected that youthful passion. But unfortunately Mixie was in his way and the Freight Train didn’t stop until the match was over. Especially when title opportunities were on the line.

So, as was common for Jamal in his time in the Asylum Wrestling Society, Jamal was the most normal person in the match. The 50 year old black heavyweight wrestler was the only one the match that was regular. Just a grown man on the hunt for championship status. Jamal missed having title gold and the checks that came with it. He couldn’t wait for his big match at the Sydney, Australia Ward show. Because losing was not an option.

So the scene took place in his Asylum Wrestling Society cell. Standing and doing resistance band curls.  Damien was bigger than him, Mixie was faster than him, but none were tougher than him and he was going to make that clear in the match later tonight physically but he knew words had to be said before his battle.

Jamal Payne: Three people, one enclosed space, ain’t none of us the same; we got different ages, backgrounds, wrestling styles, experience levels, and we locked into this cage of death with big shit on the line. Parental Advisory title, 5150 contenders spot, or nothin’. I’ll be damned if I leave here in Sydney with nothin’.

Jamal said this while getting his pump right. Activating his arms and literally flexing for the camera a bit once he put the tension-tight bands down.

Jamal Payne: This my first match in Sydney in a long-ass time of any kind and I’m leaving here with something. So one thing’s for certain, two things for sho’ at Ward tonight. Damien, Mixie, I ain’t gonna be an afterthought! This is the Freight Train’s opportunity to get at a title again. I ain’t left all the way from Virginia for nothin’ Y’all are in trouble once that cage door closes.

Jamal was pumped up physically and mentally. No fear with his eyes on the prize and zero fear of the moment at hand in the Cage Of Death match. Verbal courage against Damien, utter confidence against Mixie. All because a title and title opportunity was on the line.

Jamal Payne: And yeah I admit it the last few shows I had to lock in mid-match. I’m man enough to admit I’ve been psyched out by some of the matches I’ve been in with my old-fashioned ass. I’m a wrestler’s wrestler who’s used to punishing people with my hands and feet first. Weapons second. I’m in my 50s and I’m more mobile than your freak-ass Damien and unlike Mixie I can run people over with no problem. But this Cage Of Death match. Ain’t no escape, nowhere to hide. Y'all are locked in with me and I'm barreling down the tracks!

Jamal said all of this while footage of Jamal’s highlights and lowlights were on the screen. All while admitting that he had been on a losing streak lately. Recent shows have not been good to him stemming from his lack of confidence and swagger but this changed. Now Jamal had his mind right and was ready to fight against his opponents with everything he had.

Jamal Payne: And as I roll down the tracks I see Damien Kostich. The biggest, tallest, pain in the ass that I've ever squared up against. But I've proven I can put you down on your back before. Get your stiff European body down. Barely mobile ass… I'm surprised you won any gold while looking like a long-ass Hannibal Lecter but dumb and boring. You don't deserve to be a champion over and in this cage of death I'm charging at you with plans on messing your body up real good. Your bitch ass to get a title shot, or a title. Either way I can handle you.

Jamal let it be clear that he didn’t fear Damien in the slightest no matter his stature. His huge arms, strong legs, and broad back were good.

Jamal Payne: And Mixie…damn girl I feel bad for you. You're finding out that AWS shows no mercy no matter who you are and what you believe in. Here you are Mixie just trying to make wrestling fun, and have fun wrestling. Making people smile and shit while you try to win matches and now you’re thrown to the dingoes. This ain’t your place Mixie and I’m only saying that because you’re the odd one out with violence and aggression. Because you, and Damien, are in my fucking way and I’m going to hurt you, run you over, break you in half if you get in my way and stop me from winning. I hope you win your next match Mixie because you’re not winning this one.

Jamal had nothing personal against Mixie like he did Damien. Hell her sunny outlook on wrestling was refreshing compared to all of the dour, vile, freaks that the Asylum Wrestling Society had to offer. But unfortunately she had the misfortune of being booked against him.

Jamal Payne: So like I said I ain’t left all the way from Virginia for nothin’ Y’all are in trouble once that cage door closes. And yeah this is the Cage Of Death match but y’all won’t die locked up with my. I’ll just make y’all wish y’all were dead. See y’all tonight Damien and Mixie
