AWS - Vin Halsted - The Veteran Who Refuses to Die

::The Halsted Fieldhouse is silent except for the low hum of the overhead lights. The place smells like sweat, steel, and old violence. The camera pushes through the entrance hallway, past framed photos of Halsted’s greatest wars: blood‑stained victories, broken opponents, titles raised high, until it reaches the center of the building. The practice ring sits under a single spotlight. The ropes are worn. The canvas is scarred. The air feels heavy. Inside the ring, Vin Halsted sits on the middle turnbuckle, elbows on his knees, hands taped, head bowed. His breathing is slow, controlled, but there’s a tremor in his shoulders; the kind that comes from rage held too long. Behind him, steam rises from the Mystic Hot Tub in the corner of the Fieldhouse. Towels are thrown across the floor. Ice packs sit half‑melted on the apron. Halsted’s body is still bruised from Carnival of Champions: ribs wrapped, shoulder taped, a faint scar across his forehead. He lifts his head. His eyes are dead calm. His voice is low, gravelly, and dangerous.

Halsted: Since July 6th…I’ve been living in this part of the Halsted Manor.

::Halsted pushes himself off the turnbuckle and drops to the canvas with a thud. He paces slowly, dragging his fingers along the top rope.::

Halsted: I didn’t go to The Manor. I didn’t celebrate. I didn’t lick my wounds in peace. I stayed right here in the Fieldhouse, because I couldn’t stomach the idea of walking out of Carnival of Champions with nothing.

::He stops in the center of the ring.::

Halsted: War Games. Hell in a Cell. The Cohort. Twenty‑nine men in Champions Carnival Battle Royal and then… nothing.

::His jaw tightens.::

Halsted: I was promised a return match with Adam Stryker. I was told, straight to my face, that the DQ at Ward #364 would be corrected. That the rematch was coming. That justice was coming. That the veteran who’s carried this company on his back for two decades would get what he earned.

::Halsted laughs a bitter, humorless sound.::

Halsted: Instead… I was thrown into an impossible gauntlet. All or nothing. Everything on the line. Every obstacle imaginable. You would think I would have learned to expect this sort of thing in AWS, right?

::He steps toward the camera.::

Halsted: Stryker didn’t have to fight in War Games and captain the defending team of the company he was the face of. Stryker didn’t have to survive twenty‑nine other men as entrant number one. Stryker didn’t have to bleed, break, or crawl. No, I did that!  Stryker didn’t have to do a damn thing except show up fresh for a three‑way match.

::Halsted’s voice drops.::

Halsted: I wasn’t even allowed to reach him, instead Boone Carter and Jeremiah Vastrix stole that honor from me and the cowardice champion couldn’t even hold them off as Vastrix pulled off the upset of the year and won The Final Battle match. Let me ask this… Who the fuck are Boone Carter and Jeremiah Vastrix? Two guys who haven’t been in AWS longer than a cup of coffee, who haven’t had to climb a ladder or watch everyone and their brother skip the line while doing everything they can to carry the AWS Universe.

::He walks to the ropes and leans over them, staring into the camera like he’s staring into the soul of AWS itself.::

Halsted: You want to know what bitterness tastes like? It tastes like blood in your mouth after you’ve been promised the world and handed a consolation prize. It tastes like sweat dripping into your eyes while you’re fighting for a chance that someone else got handed for free. It tastes like waking up every morning knowing you were one elimination away from rewriting history… and instead you were erased. So yeah… I decided to take some time to decide my next move so that I can regain everything that was taken from me while Scarlett begged me to answer the calls from AWS management.

::Halsted steps back into the ring center.::

Halsted: So, here we are, I’ve been pushed to the back of the line… Again. After everything I’ve done. After everything I’ve survived. After every title I’ve carried, including the AWS UltraViolence Championship.

::He shakes his head.::

Halsted: Now? Now that championship isn’t even a belt. It’s a trophy.

::He spits on the canvas.::

Halsted: A trophy. A participation award. A shiny little statue instead of leather and gold. Instead of something you can wear. Instead of something you can bleed for. Instead of something that means something.

::Halsted’s voice cracks with fury.::

Halsted: You don’t hang a trophy on your shoulder. You don’t wrap a trophy around your waist. You don’t raise a trophy above your head after surviving hell.

::He snarls.::

Halsted: You put a trophy on a shelf and I don’t fight for shelves.

::Halsted walks to the corner of the ring and slaps the turnbuckle hard enough to make the ropes shake.::

Halsted: This ring has seen more violence than any arena in AWS. This is where I rebuilt myself after injuries. This is where I sharpened my craft. This is where I broke men who thought they could take my spot.

::He points toward the Mystic Hot Tub.::

Halsted: That tub over there? That’s where I healed after Carnival of Champions. Every night. Every morning. Every hour I wasn’t training. I sat in that boiling water while my ribs screamed, while my shoulder throbbed, while my spine felt like it was made of broken glass.

::He steps back into the center of the ring.::

Halsted: I healed myself because AWS didn’t care enough to do it. I rebuilt myself because AWS didn’t care enough to help. I resurrected myself because AWS didn’t care enough to remember.

::Halsted’s voice rises.::

Halsted: Now they want me on Black Out. They want me to start over. They want me to climb the mountain again. They want me to prove myself again.For what? Just to show the AWS Universe how much they care so little of one of the Founding Fathers and look to find the next shiny new toy?

::He shakes his head slowly.::

Halsted: I’ve been proving myself for twenty‑two years. I’ve been forced to watch everyone and their cousin get their shots and reigns AWS as if it’s a punishment. Meanwhile, I take every brass ring, climb every ladder, and beat everyone who gets in my way. I was never here to cater to the whims of small-minded people and play with the new toys so that they could get ahead of me. No, I’m more than that and I deserve the respect and glory I have earned.

::Halsted stops pacing. His posture changes, shoulders squared, chin lifted, eyes burning.::

Halsted: Now they’re throwing me into a Street Fight with Spectre, as an attempt to make me go down another worthless sidequest.

::He smirks.::

Halsted: A 6’9”, 325‑pound monster. A masked anomaly. A freak of nature with honor in his heart and destruction in his hands. Fine… I’ll be your Huckleberry… for one night only, though.

::Halsted cracks his knuckles.::

Halsted: Here we are, Spectre… Yeah, you’re impressive. You’re disciplined. You’re powerful. You’re athletic. You’re everything a newcomer dreams of being when they walk into AWS for the first time. Another new toy has arrived on scene, right?

::He leans forward.::

Halsted: But you’re walking into a Street Fight with a man who has nothing left to lose.

::Halsted’s voice becomes a growl.::

Halsted: You’re walking into a match where my experience becomes a weapon. Where my bitterness becomes a blade. Where my frustration becomes a storm. Where every inch of this ring becomes a trap.

::He points to the canvas.::

Halsted: I’ve bled on this canvas more times than you’ve taken breaths in AWS.

::He points to the ropes.::

Halsted: I’ve hung men from these ropes.

::He points to the turnbuckles.::

Halsted: I’ve broken bones against these corners.

::Halsted steps closer to the camera.::

Halsted: On August 10th… I’m going to use every weapon available to remind the world that Vin Halsted is still the most ruthless tactician in this company.

::He grabs a steel chair from the corner and slams it onto the canvas. The echo shakes the Fieldhouse.::

Halsted: You see this chair? I’ve bent a dozen of these over skulls. I’ve dented them on ribs. I’ve folded them around spines.

::He picks up a kendo stick and snaps it across his knee.::

Halsted: This stick? I’ve carved welts into men twice your size.

::He pulls a chain from under the ring apron and wraps it around his fist.::

Halsted: This chain? I’ve used it to choke out men who thought they were invincible.

::Halsted’s voice becomes cold.::

Halsted: In a Street Fight… all of these are legal.

::Halsted suddenly hurls the chain aside and storms toward the nearest turnbuckle. He balls his fist, teeth clenched, and drives a punch straight into the padded steel. The impact echoes through the Fieldhouse. He hits it again. And again. And again. The padding splits. His knuckles split. Blood smears across the turnbuckle as he keeps swinging, refusing to stop, refusing to feel pain.::

Halsted: This is what AWS made me. This is what happens when you push a man to the back of the line and expect him to smile. This is what happens when you break your promises and think I’ll just swallow it. I don’t swallow anything. I fight. I bleed. I destroy.

::He throws one final punch, ripping the padding completely off the steel ring post. Breathing hard, he wipes the blood across his chest like war paint.::

Halsted: Spectre… this is the part where you start praying. Because if I’m willing to do this to myself… imagine what I’m willing to do to you.

::Halsted takes a deep breath in and out as he stares across the ring while the blood drips from Halsted’s knuckles onto the canvas, each drop echoing in the silent Fieldhouse.::

Halsted: I’m going to use every single one of them and everything else at my disposal to send you back to the Hell you came from. I’m gonna show you every ounce of the pain I have been feeling ever since the Feigels decided to bring me back to AWS.

::Halsted sits back down on the turnbuckle, breathing hard, sweat dripping down his face.::

Halsted: You know what hurts the most? It’s not the bruises. It’s not the scars. It’s not the broken bones.

::He looks up.::

Halsted: It's disrespect and broken promises.

::He points at the camera.::

Halsted: I was told I’d get Stryker. I was told I’d get my rematch. I was told I’d get justice.

::He shakes his head.::

Halsted: Instead I got War Games. I got twenty‑nine men. I got an impossible gauntlet. I got sent home with nothing.

::Halsted’s voice cracks.::

Halsted: I stood against The Cohort. I earned that rematch. I earned that shot. I earned that moment.

::He clenches his fists.::

Halsted: AWS took it away, again. Oh… but they appreciate me. AWS doesn’t want legends. They want mascots. They want toys. They want distractions. I’m none of those things. They don’t want me to go. They need me to continue to raise the bar for the locker room, but how soon they forget me when some new guy waltzes in.

::Halsted stands again, slowly, deliberately, like a predator preparing to strike. The blood on Halsted’s chest glistens under the spotlight, turning him into something feral, something ancient.::

Halsted: Spectre… you’re not the man I want, but you’re the man they’re giving me.

::He steps forward.::

Halsted: How unfortunate for you because that means you’re the man who’s going to suffer for everything I’ve been denied.

::He points to the camera.::

Halsted: You’re the man who’s going to bleed for the rematch I didn’t get. You’re the man who’s going to break for the title I never lost. You’re the man who’s going to fall for the disrespect I endured.

::Halsted’s voice becomes a whisper.::

Halsted: You’re the man who’s going to feel every ounce of bitterness in my body.

::He walks to the center of the ring and spreads his arms wide.::

Halsted: Black Out is supposed to be a proving ground. A place for veterans to resurrect their careers. A place for rookies to make their mark.

::He smiles a cruel, violent smile.::

Halsted: I’m not here to resurrect anything. I’m here to destroy.

::He points at the camera.::

Halsted: Spectre… you’re the first name on my list. You will be the first body to be dropped at my feet and I’m not gonna stop until I take everything that was taken from me.

::Halsted’s breathing steadies, the rage sharpening into something colder as his voice drops, colder now, almost calm. The silence in the Fieldhouse tightens, as if the walls themselves are listening.::

Halsted: You’re not the future, Spectre. You’re the sacrifice.

::Halsted’s shadow looms across the canvas, stretching like a warning. Halsted steps so close to the camera that only his eyes fill the frame.::

Halsted: On August 10th… In a Street Fight… Inside the Asylum Wrestling Society… Vin Halsted returns.

::He pauses.::

Halsted: I’m not coming back to climb the mountain. I’m coming back to burn it down.

::He leans in.::

Halsted: Spectre… You’re not facing a man. You’re facing a legacy. You’re facing a monster. You’re facing a veteran who refuses to die.

::Halsted’s voice drops to a whisper.::

Halsted: When Black Out ends… You will leave changed, but I will leave with momentum.

::Halsted’s breathing slows. The Fieldhouse feels like it’s holding its breath. Halsted’s eyes narrow, the smirk fading into something colder.::

Halsted: That’s the difference between a newcomer… and a legend. When your body hits this canvas for the final time, Spectre… you’ll understand why legends don’t fade, they conquer.

::Halsted’s lips curl into a slow, predatory smile. The spotlight tightens, swallowing the rest of the Fieldhouse in darkness.::

Halsted: Only then, will you bend the knee and scream… ALL HAIL!!”

::The camera fades to black. END SCENE.::
