Simply...ONE
The screen opens to complete silence.
No music.
No narration.
Only the mournful whistle of the desert wind.
A lone raven erupts from the dead branches of a twisted mesquite tree as the camera glides through an abandoned cemetery somewhere outside Las Vegas. Ancient headstones, cracked crypts, and weathered angels disappear into an endless sea of fog.
A rusted cemetery gate hangs open.
It wasn't forced.
It was invited.
The camera moves deeper into the graveyard until it finds a fresh grave.
Beside it...
A massive silhouette.
Nearly seven feet tall.
Head lowered.
Hands folded behind his back.
A stark white mask stares into the darkness.
ONE.
Leader of The Cohort.
He doesn't move.
He doesn't breathe.
He simply stands...
Like Death had decided to take physical form.
Around him, one by one, members of The Cohort emerge from the mist. They take their places without a sound, encircling the grave like mourners attending a funeral that hasn't happened yet.
Footsteps crunch against gravel.
Victor LaCroix enters the frame, dressed in an immaculate black three-piece suit, a silver-topped cane in one hand and leather gloves on the other.
He surveys the cemetery with a satisfied smile.
Victor LaCroix:
"People fear cemeteries."
He slowly kneels beside one of the graves, brushing dust from the headstone.
"They shouldn't."
"Cemeteries don't create death."
"They merely acknowledge what was inevitable."
He rises.
"And inevitability..."
He glances toward ONE.
"...has a face."
The giant never reacts.
The wind blows.
His coat doesn't even seem to move.
Victor LaCroix:
"David Styker."
"The reigning AWS 5150 Champion."
"A man celebrated because he survives violence."
"A man applauded because he embraces chaos."
A quiet chuckle escapes Victor.
"You've mistaken endurance for invincibility."
"You've convinced yourself that because you've walked out of every war..."
"...you'll walk out of the next one."
Victor begins pacing between the gravestones.
"Champions always believe history begins with them."
"They speak of legacies."
"They speak of destiny."
"They wear gold around their waist and believe it makes them immortal."
He stops.
"It doesn't."
"It makes them easier to find."
The Cohort slowly lowers their heads in eerie unison.
Still...
Not a word.
Victor LaCroix:
"You call yourself the king of 5150."
"Tell me..."
"Who crowned you?"
"The fans?"
"The locker room?"
"The blood you've spilled?"
Victor smiles coldly.
"They're all temporary."
"But fear..."
"Fear lasts forever."
He walks toward ONE.
The giant towers over him.
Victor doesn't even look up.
Victor LaCroix:
"This man has never spoken because words are for those seeking permission."
"ONE doesn't negotiate."
"He doesn't threaten."
"He doesn't boast."
"He arrives."
"And then..."
"...everything changes."
A beat.
The camera slowly zooms in on ONE's mask.
Not a twitch.
Not a blink.
Only darkness behind empty eyeholes.
Victor LaCroix:
"Monday Night Ward."
"Episode 366."
"A 5150 Match."
"No rules."
"No mercy."
"No escape."
Victor laughs under his breath.
"They call that your specialty."
"How adorable."
"You think you've mastered madness."
"You've only been playing in its shadow."
He points toward the fresh grave.
The camera finally reveals the wooden marker.
No dates.
No epitaph.
Just five hand-painted words.
HERE LIES DAVID STYKER
Victor smiles wider.
Victor LaCroix:
"We're not predicting your future."
"We're preparing for it."
Lightning flashes across the desert sky.
Thunder rolls.
The camera cuts back to ONE.
For the first time...
He moves.
Slowly...
Deliberately...
He kneels beside the open grave.
His enormous hand disappears beneath the loose earth.
He reaches deeper.
Deeper still.
Then...
He pulls something free.
The AWS 5150 Championship.
The gold is smeared with dirt and ash.
Victor takes the championship from ONE and studies it with visible disappointment.
Victor LaCroix:
"So much blood spilled..."
"For a piece of metal."
He lets the championship fall.
THUD.
It lands in the dirt beside the grave.
He grinds the heel of his polished shoe onto the faceplate.
Victor LaCroix:
"Power isn't measured in championships."
"It's measured by the man capable of taking them."
He steps away.
ONE bends down.
Without effort, he lifts the championship with one hand.
His fingers slowly tighten around the center plate.
The metal groans.
Not enough to break...
Just enough to prove he could.
Victor looks directly into the camera.
Victor LaCroix:
"David Styker..."
"You have built your career convincing people you're the most dangerous man in AWS."
"On Ward 366..."
"You're going to discover the difference..."
"...between being dangerous..."
"...and meeting something that has forgotten what fear even feels like."
ONE slowly raises the championship.
Then, with agonizing precision...
He turns it upside down.
A silent declaration that the reign is ending.
The Cohort members take one synchronized step toward the camera.
Their boots echo like a funeral march.
Victor removes his gloves.
Drops them into the open grave.
Victor LaCroix:
"When the bell rings..."
"Your title will not be defended."
"It will be collected."
ONE takes a single step toward the camera.
Then another.
Each footfall reverberates like a coffin lid slamming shut.
He stops inches from the lens.
The mask fills the screen.
Nothing but blank white.
Featureless.
Soulless.
He slowly raises one massive finger...
...and points directly through the camera.
At David Styker.
At the audience.
At everyone watching.
The screen immediately cuts to black.
Silence.
Five seconds pass.
Then white text slowly fades into view.
MONDAY NIGHT WARD #366

5150 MATCH
THE CHAMPION MEETS THE MONSTER.
The image flickers.
The final line changes.

THE CHAMPION MEETS HIS END.
