On My Own
Act 1: A match of my own
The scene opens on the beautiful Texas countryside. The camera moves along the long stretch of road that winds its way along the fields filled with green while cows wandered in others. The smell of fresh soil mixed with the wild flowers that could be found along the roadside. The sun was high in the sky, and was already warm. The camera moves along and soon we see a long road that moved away from the main road and toward a ranch that seemed to come out of nowhere. The ranch itself was quiet but seemed to be active. Cows rested in one of the fields enjoying the day, while horses grazed in another. Chickens, wandered the grounds while a rooster crowed somewhere in the yard. The camera moves to the interior of the ranch house. The interior was done in light oak wood with a maple floor. The smell of vanillia drifted on the air, as the sound of ice maker echoed through the quiet of the ranch house. The camera makes its way through the house and comes to a stop on a gym. We see "The Yankee Rose" Sarah Lee Jackson working out. She punches away at a swinging punching bag, with hard hits. Her phone was open and Avery was on a video chat with her.
Sarah: You have to be kidding?
Avery: No, I'm not. The GGL is gone and we are no longer champions.
Sarah: That sucks! Damn, I was just getting use to it.
Avery: Same. But that's alright. We'll get another chance.
Sarah: Yeah, but we had already started to claim our spot.
Avery: Yeah, it's alright though. Like I said we'll get our chance again, and when we do there isn't going to be much any other team can do against us.
Sarah: That's for sure, but I'm ready to get in the ring again.
Avery: I take it you haven't seen the poster for the next show then.
Sarah stops for a moment and stops the bag with a raised eyebrow.
Sarah: No, I haven't had a chance. I've been busy with the farm. Why?
Avery: You have a match.
Sarah: You mean we have a match right?
Avery: No, this is a singles match.
Sarah: Well damn, who's it against?
Avery: Sol Azteca. She's already said something, and she's waiting for a reponse.
Sarah sighs and leans against the wall.
Sarah: I needed to take a break anyway. I'll call you back in a while.
Avery: Alright. I'll see you soon.
Sarah soon hits the button and walks through the gym. She finds the promo that Sol Azteca did and sits on the edge of the ring, as she does. It soon ends, and she sets her phone to the side, before hopping up into the ring.
Sarah: Sol Azteca, I respect you just as much as you do me. Hell I respect the hustle that I've seen in every Lucha I've ever met. I know what it is to earn my place and have done so in every indie that I have ever been in. Hell I've gone to the south of the border and been in shows with the Lucha's and I have to say that you are one of the most athletic, hard working people that I have ever seen. You don't let anyone take anything from you, and the ones that I have faced gave me a run.
She climbs up onto the mat, slipping through the ropes and stands in the middle of the ring.
Sarah: I have never faced you, and I don't think you are one of the rich brats that Avery and I have faced off against. I see an opponent that I will beat in the middle of the ring, and then afterwards extend my hand in friendship and get a drink afterwards with. Don't get me wrong, in the ring, I'm all business and will do everything in my power to get the win, but I know that you're not going to make it easy. I don't want an easy match.
Sarah leans against the ropes and smiles.
Sarah: I've been in a lot of pain in my life. I was pushed around, until I leanred that I had to stand on my own in the middle of the ring. I know what it is to lose everything around you, and find your way back up to the top. I don't let my pride get in my way in my matches. I have the focus I need to win, and always have. I've stood against the odds and started my career in this very ring, and have been in the smallest gyms just to prove that I belonged with the rest of the crowd.
She stares down at the floor and smirks.
Sarah: You have nothing to worry about from Avery, I'll tell you that right now. She's only going to be at ringside to watch my back and keep other people out of our match, that's it. She has honor and will let me handle my match on my own. She knows that I can handle myself against anyone that stands in front of me. If anyone does try to get involved in our match I'll stop and kick their ass before we continue with ours. Don't think I'm not honest because that is one thing I can say for myself. I'll never screw you over if you're an actual genuine person.
She bounces off of the ropes and moves across the ring with speed before she bounces off of the ropes again.
Sarah: Sol Azteca, you want me to bring everything that I am into this match, but I want you to bring everything that you are into this match. I want your best, and I want you to prove that you are just as good as I know that you are. I meant what I said that when I'm in the ring, I will kick your ass and give you a beating, but afterwards I will gladly shake your hand and see if you would like to have a drink after. Just know I am a woman of my word and so is Avery, and she will stay out of this match and it'll be just you and me. But if anyone and I mean anyone tries to get in the middle of if... Like I said they won't like the results... We will handle it and then you and I will continue afterwards. I'm not afraid of anything that you can throw at me, and I can handle a lot.
She stops and leans against the ropes once more with a smile on her lips. Her blond hair shimmered as sewat dripped down her face.
Sarah: Sol Azteca I don't think there is really anything else that I can say to you without starting to reapeat myself. Just know when we meet in the middle of the ring, I'll give you my best because I know that you're going to give me your best. I am a woman of few words, and I let my fists do my talking. So good luck to you.
Sarah nods, and slides out of the ring, grabbing a towel, before heading for the gym door as the scene fades to black.
