The 5150 Way
Mason Hurst may have loved his hot wife and sweet kids but he didn’t like sitting on his ass for too long. He missed the wrestling ring and grew antsy for it between training sessions. Especially with Matt who tested him in unique ways. Joint holds and fighting like a human pitbull and that got him nice and excited as a wrestler. The lack of match booking for him was getting on his nerves. So when Mason saw the match posting for AWS Ward in Osaka, Japan appear on his phone he couldn’t help but grin.
Mason Hurst: Now that's what I'm talking about!
And the reason why he was so excited. A 5150 match against one of AWS’s most badass competitors Mike Dimter. The kind of bout that could steal the show if both men gave it their all. Not that Mason cared about that sort of thing over winning. He didn’t become the face of the 5150 division by just being a good wrestler, everyone in the AWS could put on a fun match. Bums didn’t wrestle here. No, what set Mason apart was that he was 316 pounds of a problem that would be tough as hell to solve.
In fact there was a painful-as-fuck art when it came to wrestling the 5150 way. Surviving the violence, outlasting your opponent, and proving you belong among the most dangerous competitors in Asylum Wrestling Society was the goal and Mason was going to do just that. This was practically a back-to-basics bout for Mason where he could show the whole world just how brutal, how downright vicious he was!
Keep in mind too, he was facing Mike Dimter. A walking institution in the Asylum Wrestling Society.
And Mason knew that Mike Dimter was an absolute beast in the ring. A technically skilled wrestler who can brawl and had a strong-as-fuck will even by the standards of the Asylum Wrestling Society lunatics. Yeah Mason was bigger and stronger than him but Mike had been outweighed before and had been the smaller man in the match before and he’d be standing tall at the end of it with his hand raised in victory on more than a few occasions. Mason knew he couldn’t brute-force his way against Mike; he had to use his brain. Luckily he wasn’t a meathead by any stretch. He knew how to handle Mike both in the ring and on the microphone. Time for a promo and it had to do himself, the match, and his opponent justice. And it all started in his AWS cell.
Mason Hurst: I’m demanding your attention because the man right here Mason Hurst is going back to work and that’s bad news for everyone here in the Asylum Wrestling Society because I’ve been at my home down in Australia for too long. And make no mistake, I've made a great life for myself. Being a Lunatic does pay well. My wife and kids love seeing daddy home and I didn’t mind catching a flight every now and then to Toronto to train with my mates in the Centre Of Attention. Much respect to Matt Goddard. Glad we both got gold you fuckin scrapper. But I missed being in the ring too. Hurting men and slamming bodies to the mat gives me a unique thrill that’s unlike any other and I have a hell of a target for that on this AWS world tour that’s stopping in Osaka for Ward. Mike-goddamn-Dimter in a 5150 Rules match.
Mason couldn’t help but chuckle from this out of pure mirth. He was genuinely excited about his match.
Mason Hurst: Welcome back to me I see. I have to face one of the best in the world. But Mike, since I know you’re going to analyze everything I say check this out…if you think that even for a second that you are going to win and have a good ol’ time against me just because my championship isn’t on the line the medical team is going to have to carry you out of the arena on a stretcher. The people of Osaka, Japan are going to see me in my type of match. 5150 rules where it takes power, technique, and all around skill to win and Mike I have that in spades! On top of that this is MY match in a division that I lead. I can’t afford to lose just by that reason alone.
Then a montage of Mason’s wrestling moments were shown for the people at home. His feats of action and pain and brawling technique that earned him the AWS 5150 title in the first place. How Mason wasn’t just a super-heavyweight force of a lunatic but he could properly grapple, strike, and fight with surprising tact. It was a testament to how the Centre Of Attention wasn’t just a stable bent on getting power, gold, and money but developing genuinely talented wrestlers who could take over the Asylum.
Mason Hurst: And that’s why at Ward, in Osaka, Japan I won’t lose to you. Yeah it’s bold that I’m calling my shot against one of the best wrestlers, move for move in the entire Asylum. A genuine bad ass who can definitely talk a good game and back it up. Just like me. This is my first match back and I ain’t gonna waste it. Now pay attention to that shit…
The Centre Of Attention eyeball logo faded onto the screen to mark the end of the promo.
