You Wanted the Fight
[AWS cameras cut to exclusive footage recorded days before Monday Night Ward #364. The location graphic reads: SALEAPAGA, SAMOA. The sounds of the Pacific Ocean and traditional pate drums fill the air. Villagers gather near the shoreline, children perched on rocks while elders watch proudly beneath the shade of coconut trees. The atmosphere is electric.]
[The camera pans toward three familiar figures standing barefoot on the volcanic sand. Kaelani Tanoa. Kai Tanoa. Leilani Tanoa. Collectively known throughout the wrestling world as The Savage Sons and their sister-manager, partner, and voice of the family, Leilani Tanoa. Their expressions are serious. Around their necks rest flower garlands gifted by family members.]
[An AWS cameraman quietly whispers.]
Cameraman: "Guys… they're practicing."
[Without acknowledging the camera, the Tanoa siblings close their eyes. The sound of the drums intensifies. Kaelani opens his eyes first and lets out a sharp cry. Kai pounds his chest. Leilani raises her arms. Together, the three perform the Siva Tau.]
Kaelani, Kai, and Leilani:
"Le manu e, ua malu!
Le manu e, ua malu!
Ua sauni le malosi!
Ua sauni le aiga!
Tulou! Tulou!
Ia mataala!
O Samoa e tula'i!
O le agaga e le malepe!
AWS… fa'alogo mai!
FEEL… THE WRATH… OF THE ISLAND!"
[Their feet stomp the earth with tremendous force. Their voices echo across the beach. The final cry sends chills through everyone watching. Several villagers clap and cheer proudly.]
[Kaelani lowers his head and breathes deeply. Kai grins, sweat dripping from his face. Leilani smiles as she notices the camera crew.]
Leilani Tanoa: [Laughing softly.] "Well, look at that. AWS couldn't wait until Monday, huh?"
[The siblings share a laugh. Kaelani walks toward the camera, his demeanor becoming serious once more.]
Kaelani Tanoa: [Calmly.] "You know… people always ask us why we do this."
[He gestures behind him toward the ocean and the village.]
"Why do we come home before every big fight? Why do we train here? Why do we stand with our people?"
[He pauses.]
"Because this place reminds us who we are."
[He points to the ground beneath his feet.]
"This sand? These waves? These mountains? This isn't scenery."
[Kaelani pounds his chest.]
"This is blood."
Kai Tanoa: [Nodding.] "And blood don't forget."
[Kai picks up a handful of sand and lets it fall from his hand.]
"Every grain here carries stories. Stories of warriors. Stories of family. Stories of people who stood together no matter what."
[He looks into the lens.]
"That's why we ain't scared of Buck Rawlins and Wade Mercer."
[Kai smirks.]
"Respect them? Sure."
"Fear them?"
[He laughs loudly.]
"Nah, uso."
[Leilani folds her arms.]
Leilani Tanoa:
"You know what's funny?"
"All week, Buck Rawlins has been talking about honor."
[She rolls her eyes.]
"'West Texas toughness.'"
"'Cowboy pride.'"
"'Two men against the world.'"
[She chuckles.]
"Sweetheart…"
"You ain't the only ones who know what it means to fight for something bigger than yourselves."
[Kaelani nods.]
Kaelani:
"See, Buck…"
"You say you're the last outlaw."
"And Wade Mercer…"
"You call yourself the Hangman."
[His expression hardens.]
"But where we're from…"
"Titles don't matter."
"Nicknames don't matter."
"Reputations don't matter."
[He points toward the ocean.]
"The sea don't care who you are."
"The mountain don't care who you are."
"And the people?"
[He smiles proudly.]
"The people only care whether your heart is true."
Kai Tanoa:
"And we know your hearts, boys."
[He begins pacing.]
"Y'all are fighters."
"Tough as nails."
"Hard-headed."
"And crazy enough to step into a fight with us."
[He laughs.]
"We like that."
"We respect that."
"But make no mistake…"
"When that bell rings on Monday Night Ward #364…"
[Kai's smile vanishes.]
"We ain't shaking hands."
"We ain't exchanging compliments."
"We ain't admiring your cowboy hats."
[He cracks his knuckles.]
"We're breaking spirits."
[Leilani raises an eyebrow.]
Leilani:
"Now hold on, Kai."
[She smirks.]
"I don't think Buck and Wade are stupid."
"I think they're proud."
"And pride can make good men do foolish things."
[She addresses the camera directly.]
"Buck Rawlins."
"Wade Mercer."
"I know what you're thinking."
"'We've faced monsters before.'"
"'We've survived bloodbaths before.'"
"'We're the toughest team in AWS.'"
[She smiles sweetly.]
"And maybe…"
"Maybe you believe that."
"But the problem with believing your own legend…"
[Her smile disappears.]
"Is eventually you run into someone else's."
[The crowd behind the siblings cheers loudly.]
Kaelani:
"Our father taught us something."
[His voice softens.]
"He told us—"
"'Strength means nothing without family.'"
"'Victory means nothing if you forget where you came from.'"
"'And respect must always come before war.'"
[He nods solemnly.]
"So understand us."
"We respect you."
"We respect what you've built."
"We respect every scar on your bodies."
[His eyes narrow.]
"But respect won't save you."
Kai Tanoa:
"Nope."
[He grins wickedly.]
"Respect just means we'll hit you with love."
[The crowd laughs.]
"And trust me, uso…"
"Island love hurts."
[Leilani bursts into laughter and shakes her head.]
Leilani:
"You are impossible."
Kai:
"What? I'm just telling the truth."
[Kaelani laughs before regaining his composure.]
Kaelani:
"Monday Night Ward #364."
"The West Texas Hangmen."
"The Savage Sons."
"No excuses."
"No shortcuts."
"No running."
"Just two proud teams fighting for glory."
[He extends his arms.]
"But understand something."
"You boys are walking into our storm."
"And storms don't ask permission."
Kai:
"They just arrive."
Leilani:
"And once they pass…"
Kaelani:
"The landscape changes."
Kai:
"The world changes."
Leilani:
"And history changes."
[The three stand shoulder to shoulder. The setting sun reflects off the ocean behind them.]
Kaelani:
"Buck Rawlins."
Kai:
"Wade Mercer."
Leilani:
"You wanted a fight."
Kaelani:
"You wanted warriors."
Kai:
"You wanted something worthy of your names."
Leilani:
"Congratulations."
[The three step forward together.]
ALL THREE:
"YOU FOUND THE SAVAGE SONS!"
[Kaelani pounds his chest once. Kai lets out a thunderous roar. Leilani raises the family hand sign proudly. The villagers behind them erupt with cheers.]
ALL THREE:
"THE FAMILY STANDS TALL!"
[The image freezes on the Tanoa siblings standing proudly together against the backdrop of Samoa as the AWS logo fades onto the screen.]
